the purpose

What's the real purpose of a blog? To educate? Entertain? Or is it simply a place for someone to voice their opinions, complaints, or random thoughts? Or could it be all of the above, or possibly more? My dear old, pal Webster has this to say about a blog: a Web site containing the writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, etc., and often having images and links to other Web sites. I mention in newer blogs that I sometimes go back and read my older posts, just to see how things have changed, or how I've changed, but as I did that again, I found myself asking a question that I've never really thought about when it comes to my blog.

Does this blog, this collection of thoughts, ideas, rants, have any sort of purpose?
If it doesn't have a purpose, should I stop and reflect to find this purpose? Does a blog even need a purpose? Now, just when you all are beginning to think that I am losing my mind and over thinking all of this, I have a point. I know it's just a blog. But, that's it. It's a blog. A blog can be a powerful thing, depending on the purpose of it. Think about it. Going through my old posts and just thinking about what I enjoy writing about, I have decided this. I write about music and my faith in Christ. That's basically it. My writing has evolved to only covering those two topics. Okay, step one complete. I know what my blog is focused around, but does it have purpose? At this point, I can't tell you that. I feel like the only people that can determine that are the readers. Do I have a purpose in mind? Yes, I do and I want to strive to fulfill that purpose in every word I write, in every post that is published. I want to share my love of music with people and make them aware of all of the wonders that the art can convey, while voicing my opinions about some of the best artists and albums to ever exist. I want to proclaim all of the magnificent and life-changing things that my Savior does in my life, along with other people's lives, with the hopes of inspiring or encouraging people along the way. Big dreams for a simple, little blog? Probably, but you won't get anywhere without have big dreams, for everything.
